Enjoying at Venice

Venice is beautiful, scenic and romantic. It is considered to be one of Italy’s top travel cities. It is a walker’s paradise with traffic free streets along winding canals. There are magnificient churches, historical palaces, bustling squares and quaint shops.

Venice is made up of over 100 small islands that are connected with bridges and canals. The main highway of Venice is its Grand Canal.
Blessed with moderate weather due to its proximity to the sea, it is very pleasant, though summers can be humid and winters foggy and wet.
The best way to get to Venice from any European city is by train to Santa Lucia Train Station. You can fly down to Marco Polo airport and then take the bus or a vaporetti boat to the city. In fact the main public transport is the vaporetti boats that ply on the main canal ways. You could of course take a gondola but they are too expensive. Most Venetians do not take the gondola except for ceremonial occasions like weddings and funerals.
Once in Venice you must see some to the wonderful sights like:

• San Marco Square or Piazza San Marco, the main square which has lovely cafes and fancy shops. It is pricey to eat here, but you could just walk around and take photos
• Saint Mark’s Basilica, this Church has wonderfully blended the East and Western architecture. It is beautiful..
• Doge’s Palace on St Mark’s Square is worth a tour. You must see the famed Bridge of Sighs that connects the palace with the prison.

Entertainment News

The term entertainment news at first seems as if it is an oxymoron (a phrase or group of words conjoining contradictory terms). But the term now-a-days, as we all know, has wide acceptance. So we need to understand the history of entertainment news and get back to the main source from which it originated and that what were the conditions that forced these two terms of different meanings to be joined together. Entertainment clearly means something that people do to relieve themselves of the worries and news is not such a thing. When we talk about entertainment, not many people think of news as their first choice.

So looking back in time, we see that in 1978, the channel ABC started a program called 20/20 which was a disaster. They had planned to cancel the show just when the VP asked the research department about it and they gave him a one-word answer-entertainment. In the show they were showing stories of the tragedy and triumph of the human condition. Now they did the same, except that for normal people they started talking about celebrities and this proved to be a great success. So they, in a way, created entertainment news.

Another reason why entertainment news came into being is because the people who worked in the entertainment industry earned a lot of money while those working in the field of journalism or news did not. So they had to think of a way to be able to compete with those working in entertainment industry. The solution was the fusion of both the industries to create an era in which the people would not only be updated of the latest news happening all over the world, but would also enjoy knowing it!
